Restrictions to be Strictly Enforced : 5000 Security Personnels Deployed in the Streets of Kathmandu Valley

Around 5,000 security personnel have been deployed in the Kathmandu Valley to make the movement restriction effective as the number of people infected with the corona virus is increasing.

Around 5,000 security personnel of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force have been deployed in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur districts to enforce the ban.

SSP and spokesperson of the Metropolitan Police Office Ranipokhari Sushil Kumar Yadav informed that 3,300 security personnel have been deployed on the roads of the Kathmandu Valley by the Nepal Police alone.

Similarly, according to the Armed Police Headquarters, more than 1,500 security personnel have been deployed in all the three districts.

According to Yadav, spokesperson of the metropolitan police office, 581 people were held on the streets of Kathmandu on Thursday.

Similarly, 1,210 people have been held in Lalitpur while 535 people have been held on the streets in Bhaktapur for violating the ban. Yadav informed that all those held in this manner were alerted and released till evening.

2900 vehicles held on Thursday

The traffic police have held 2,902 vehicles on the road on Thursday in violation of the ban. According to SP Bamdev Gautam, spokesperson of the Metropolitan Traffic Police, 2,294 two-wheelers and 608 four-wheelers from all the three districts of the Kathmandu Valley were seized and released in the evening.

Among those held on Thursday were government employees and bank employees. They will be allowed to drive on the basis of the identity card issued by the working office from Friday.

The traffic police alone has deployed 1,100 manpower on the roads in all the three districts of the Kathmandu Valley. Out of which, 800 traffic policemen have been deployed on the roads of Kathmandu alone while the rest of the manpower has been mobilized in Lalitpur and Bhaktapur.
