A proposal has been prepared to give continuity to Kulman Ghising as the managing director of NEA. The Ministry of Energy is preparing to continue Ghising as the managing director for the next four years.
Ghising's term is coming to an end on Bhadra 29. However, the proposal to continue him has been prepared by the Ministry of Energy. Minister for Energy Barshaman Pun has already consulted with the Prime Minister and CPN (Maoist) Chairman KP Sharma Oli about giving continuity to Ghising.
"Prime Minister Oli is ready to continue Kulman Ghising," said a member of Minister Pun's secretariat. However, after his reappointment, Prime Minister Oli made it a condition that Ghising follow the government's system.
"We have not forgotten the fact that the Electricity Authority and the person to be appointed there are part of the government," he told quoting Prime Minister Oli.
Minister Pun has also consulted with another CPN (Maoist) executive chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
Chairman Dahal has agreed to continue Ghising. "The demand of many is that it should be Ghising. It is not good to look for other alternatives at such a time," Dahal had told the minister again.
According to ministry sources, a proposal to continue Ghising is yet to be sent to the Council of Ministers. "It is not clear when it will be sent, but the proposal has been prepared," the source said.
The government has denied rumors that Ghising was given continuity from Tuesday's cabinet meeting. Government spokesman Yuvraj Khatiwada said the proposal to continue Ghising was not ready.
