The state government is fully prepared based on the the information of the Meteorological Department

Minister for Internal Affairs and Law of State 1, Hikmat Kumar Karki, has said that the state government is in full readiness based on the information provided by the Meteorological Department.

Informing about the preparedness and mitigation of flood and landslide damage in the state assembly meeting held in Biratnagar on Sunday, Minister Karki said that Chief District Officers, Nepal Army and Nepal Police have been instructed to be vigilant to prevent loss of life and property due to incessant rains since July 8.

Minister Karki informed that a security team had been mobilized for the rescue and relief of nine families whose houses were completely damaged in the landslide in Silichong village of Sankhuwasabha on Sunday morning.

Karki said more information was being gathered about the incident and that 11 people were killed and 11 were missing.

Minister Karki, while presenting the details of the districts at risk due to floods and landslides in Sunsari, Morang, Jhapa, Bhojpur and Okhaldhunga districts said that the state government would provide appropriate compensation to the families of those killed in the floods and landslides.

In the meeting, the proposal to send the bill to the subject committee for clause-wise discussion was unanimously passed. The proposal was tabled by Minister for Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment Jagdish Prasad Kusiyata in accordance with Rule 91 (1) (b) of the Provincial Assembly Rules, 2074 BS.
