Pashupati Area Locals Agitated against the Proposed 100 year Masterplan

Locals of Pashupati area have agitated against the 100-year master plan brought by Pashupati Area Development Fund.

Locals are agitating saying that the master plan has come to displace the ancient settlements around Pashupati area. Locals have protested at a press conference on Friday saying that the master plan is aimed at destroying religion, culture and civilization.

The locals have demanded not to remove the ancient settlement saying that the connection between the ancient settlement and religious significance will be proved by the 22 processions and 108 festivals in the Pashupati area.

Krishna Man Shrestha, coordinator of the Pashupati Area Joint Struggle Committee, said that the master plan was brought to displace the original culture, tangible and intangible heritage and ancient settlements and culture that carry Nepal's civilization and identity. He demanded the government to reject the master plan as it was destructive and short-sighted.

The Pashupati Area Development Fund has proposed a 100-year strategic master plan to remove the settlements around the Pashupati area.

Protesting against that, the locals have said that the Pashupati Area Development Fund has taken a policy of destruction and subversion by playing games with the sensitive Pashupati area 'Gwal'.
