The government has decided to allow hotels and restaurants to operate on highways and auxiliary highways following health standards. The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
Only a handful of hotels and restaurants will be able to operate and they will only be able to sell packets of food only.
Keeping in mind the need to serve trucks and vehicles carrying important goods, workshops, petrol pumps and hotels and restaurants serving food packets will be allowed to open.
They should be set up at a distance of at least 50 km from the highway and auxiliary highways at the locality specified by the concerned local administration as per the criteria set by the Ministry of Health and Population.
The meeting also decided to allow the operation of various industries. The health of the workers working there should be tested and everyone should be kept together.
The meeting has also given permission for transportation of construction materials.
