Public service demonstration in the streets demanding strict action on the Rukum issue

The Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) has staged a protest in Kathmandu on Sunday demanding strict action against the perpetrators of the incident in Chaurjahari Municipality-8 of Rukum.

The party has staged a protest at Maitighar in Kathmandu demanding strict action against the culprit who fell into the Bheri River after being chased away by a Dalit youth of Bheri Municipality-4 of Jajarkot in Chaurjahari Municipality-8 of Rukum.

They also staged a sit-in demanding immediate action against the ethnic genocide perpetrators of the Rukum incident.

They also chanted slogans saying that heinous crimes should not be covered up under political cover.

At the demonstration, top leader of the Janata Samajwadi Party, Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, said that the Rukum incident was very sad as Dalits had social rights in all state bodies and cultural discrimination had ended and demanded that the perpetrators of the incident be brought to book as soon as possible. He said that the incident was an incident of ethnic encounter.

The deceased have been identified as Nawaraj Bika of Bheri Municipality-4, Ganesh Budha Magar and Tikaram Sunar of Chaurajahari Municipality-1, Govind Shahi of Bheri Municipality-11, Lokendra Sunar and Sandeep Bik of Bheri Municipality-4.

The government has also formed an investigation committee to investigate the incident.
