Education Committee meeting
The Education and Health Committee of the House of Representatives has directed the government to make arrangements not to charge school fees and not to teach as long as there is a risk of corona infection.
The committee meeting held at Singha Durbar on Wednesday directed to make arrangements for not conducting examination and admission of students, not charging fees and not conducting formal reading without a thorough assessment of the corona epidemic. The school is currently closed due to the corona virus epidemic.
However, committee chairperson Jaipuri Gharti said that they have instructed to stop such activities as they have come to know that some schools in urban areas have started teaching.
Similarly, the Ministry of Education has been instructed not to allow such facilities in the hilly and mountainous areas even though the well-equipped schools teach online, said Gharti.
In the meeting, the lawmakers have suggested the government not to take the SEE exam this year.
Congress MP and former health minister Gagan Thapa said it would be appropriate to repeal the Secondary Education Examination (SEE).
Mentioning that when the school is closed, only physically between the teachers and the students, MP Thapa said that a learning environment can be created outside the school as well.
In the meeting, the lawmakers said that until the situation returns to normal, students can be made to participate in interactions through various mediums, but they cannot be taught as taught from school.
